Zagg Contest

I've been looking into getting an Ipad2 for the holidays and thought, why not try an online contest, since I am extremely low on funds. On Thanksgiving, I will give Zagg a try. They are the company that makes the invisible shield for various phone and tablet products.
They are offering 24 additional entries for this blog posting, and I am going to try to submit an entry every hour when the day comes around, depending on how much sleep I need. I unfortunately do not have the day off following Thanksgiving, so my work may have to suffer a bit. :D The link to the page with the contest can be found here, if you would like to enter yourself. Valentine's Day Slumber Party!

Wine, paper, markers, glue, embellishments and most of all, creativity was all my friend Michael and I needed for our slumber party. In the spirit of Valentine's Day, we collaborated together and made this lovely card for his room mate. It's been almost a year since the last time I posted, my how time flies! The challenges I am entering with this card are The Pink Elephant: Be My Valentine, Stampin for the Weekend #3: St. Valentine's Day, and Papertake Weekly Challenge: Have A Heart. Surfer Birthday Card

Today was my first day at my new job, so I was a bit tired. Earlier in the day I found out that we were going to celebrate a birthday at the office. I volunteered to do a card, so here is an attempt at a boy card, which is always so challenging! I used a new stamp from Pink Cat Studios that my lovely aunt sent me in the mail... along with some Copic markers, yay!! I used a surfer image because this co-worker is also going on vacation to a tropical location.

As previously mentioned, I used a stamp from the Pink Cat Studios. Scalloped Nestabilities. Martha Stewart edger punch (presents). Cuttlebug dot embossing. I tore the waves myself and used an ink pad from Stampin' Up to add the darker blue. Ribbon from American Crafts. Fish brads were found at Michael's for a few cents. Happy birthday stamp on the the front and inside were also from Stampin' Up. The waves and the sun were miscellaneous items I just had lying around, probably from some old scrapbook kit. I will return and update this more thoroughly tomorrow, as I need to rest up for day number two! Goodnight all and thanks for stopping by!

Pretty In Pink Card

As a little girl, I've always shied away from pink, scared to fit into a cliche of what colors girls should like or wear. Now, I love all colors, including pink! My newest creation features an all pink card with a hanging Tilda for the Magnolia-licious Highlites blog. I have recently signed on as a new Bank of America employee, and have made this card in dedication to the recruiter that has been extremely helpful. Usually I like to have some sort of sketch to guide my creative process, but this time, I decided to create my own design. This is also my very first Easel card, and I am really happy with the results.

For this project, I used a Magnolia stamp, which can be found here, at the best Magnolia store in the states. I used Copic markers to color Tilda in. Clear and pink Dew Drops, Prima flowers, and Gold Stickles for decoration. The pink and clear bling is by Kaiserkrafts. The ribbon is from a shop I found during my travels to Hong Kong many years ago... guess I was destined to be a crafter! The heart ribbon was from a dollar store in Victoria, B.C. The sentiments and tags are by Stampin' Up (Curvy Verses, Circle of Friendship, and Cute & Curly). The hot pink DP is by Martha Stewart Ombre collection and the pink DP with white flowers is from S.E.I. Lovebirds collection. Well that covers it all I think... thanks so much for coming by!

It's A New Year for New Cards!

It's a new year which means.... new cards!! I have been gone for a bit, working on various projects and trying to find employment, but I really just can't stay away from here for too long! I spent some time working on a card for the newest Midnight Madness Challenge #35 with the beloved Tilda. The Lili of the Valley Challenge #44 is to make a thank you card. This month over at the Magnolia-licious Highlites, they are having a challenge that features a framed card. Week one of Paper Play Challenges is to have something metal on/in your card. The Papertake Weekly Challenge is to have something new on/in your card. And last but not least, the Roses on Paper Challenge #28 is to color with your favorite mediums. First card of the year, hope I'm off to a good start. I have been getting inspired by the color orange for some strange reason. I think it's a color that I am slowly learning to like and appreciate.

I have used paper from DCWV Fall Indian Stack. It had the perfect orange and green tones I needed. Various Copic markers were used in coloring Tilda. Martha Stewart twine and dew drops from Robin's Nest were used in the front. The sunflower was something new that I acquired from a sweet family member who sent them to me from Hong Kong. Inside I used a few rhinestones from Kaiserkraft and assorted Prima flowers.

MMSC #31 and Eleven Other Challenges

Happy holidays everyone!! Here is my most recent creation just in time for the upcoming celebration! It is filled with greens and reds and most of all, encompasses the holiday spirit! I have used the sketch from Midnight Madness. I have a slew of challenges I want to enter with this card. Since I have used the beautiful Tilda, I have entered her into the Magnolia Down Under challenge which is to have a bedazzled card. The Everybody-Art Challenge is to use red and green. Stampavie and more challenge number 73 is red and green also! My Time to Craft challenge 69 is to include Christmas foliage. A new challenge blog I found is called Nutshells and their requirement is to use ribbon. One of my favorite challenge blogs, The Pink Elephant, has a challenge requiring your favorite Christmas combo. The Cuttlebug Challenge this week is to use glitter. Challenge #49 over at Charisma Cardz Challenge is to use red, green, and silver. The Creative Card Crew challenge wanted gold and silver in the creation. The Cupcake Craft Challenge #69 is to sing a Christmas carol on your card. The Just Magnolia Challenge this time is "It's Christmas!". The Stamptacular Sunday Challenge is to have sparkle and shine on your card.

Yay finally worked on this challenge a bit earlier this week. My wonderful aunt is such an inspiration! She has great ideas and is so encouraging, I am very fortunate! This week the Midnight Madness Challenge is to follow a sketch and have an image with wings or something that can fly. I have dreamed up a Mary Poppins-like character, flying with her umbrella! Sugar Bowl Challenge #23

Last minute post again for the Sugar Bowl Challenge #23. I used a Gorjuss Girl image that I actually just ordered... SO excited! Since they are from the UK, I couldn't order just one. I can't wait for them to come!

I decided I wanted to make a black and white card using the sketch from this challenge. I used Copic markers, ribbon from Michael's, rinestones from Basic K, and the sentiment is Stem Sayings from Stampin Up. The paper on the very bottom actually has a velvety texture, not sure if you can tell that from the picture. The gray circle behind the main image is embossed from a Cuttlebug folder through the Sizzix machine. Inside, the hearts are from the Love You Much set by Stampin Up. The edges on the bottom are punched with an EK success edge puncher. I used Diamond Stickles throughout the project.

I was so excited to use this super cute image from Your Next Stamp for their most recent challenge. Their challenge #3 is to make a Christmas card without using green or red. This was way harder than I thought, the DT made it look so easy! Anyways, here is my entry!

MMSC #26 and Just Magnolia

Here is a simple thank you card I made for the Midnight Madness Challenge #26. There was a sketch provided and I used an Edwin stamp. I used Copic markers to color him in and distressed the edges all around and inked it with Chocolate Chip ink from Stampin Up. The challenge for Just Magnolia is distressing!

Magnolia-licious Clean and Simple

Here is my super clean and simple card for the Magnolia-licious challenge! I thought this was going to be difficult, but I actually really like the results! I used an Edwin from the Christmas collection and a reef from Magnolia. The DP is by All My Memories. The branches are by Martha Stewart (Branch punch). Gold ribbon is also by Martha Stewart. I frosted laced Stickles throughout the project. This took way under an hour to complete and it definitely easy to reproduce. Check it out!!

For this card, I used the sketch for this week at Midnight Madness Challenge #25. I used an Anya image from The Greeting Farm. Anya Ink had a challenge that required two different ribbons and any number of circles and staples. The theme for the One Stop Craft Challenge is Celebration. I had a lot of fun coloring this image. A Rushed Birthday Card

It's Almost Halloween!

Since I've discovered the joy of card making, I find Halloween to be such a fun holiday! I'm sure I'll say the same when Christmas cards are in the works. Bottom line, this new hobby has made every occasion extra special! For this project, I used the Papertake Weekly Sketch #26. The Cupcake Craft Challenge week 62 is to make a card for things that go bump in the night. The Roses on Paper Challenge is for a card that's "nearly Halloween". Cute Card Thursday challenge #82 is looking for a spook fest. Pile it on Challenge #18 is getting ready for Halloween. Crafty Creations Challenge #38 is All Hallow's Eve and the Corrosive Challenge #34 is for Spooky Times. The One Stop Craft Challenge #51 is a Halloween theme. For the image, I used a Halloween Tilda. I think she was very happy to be colored with Copic markers. Her spider on the other hand, suffered some casualties with its legs. Sugar Bowl Challenge #21 and Simon Says Challenge

I always seem to do the Sugar Bowl at the very last minute, I'm not sure why! I love doing this challenge because I absolutely adore Gorjuss Girls. The challenge for the Sugar Bowl is to follow a sketch. For the Simon Says Challenge, the requirement is to make a get well soon project. Since I am in a hurry to post, here is my card!

A Savannah Card and Candle

I was so excited to use the stamp I won from The Greeting Farm while they had their A Stamp A Day Giveaway. I chose Savannah and she was soooo fun to work with!! I also decided to tackle as many challenges as I could. The challenge for Paper Play this week is to use your favorite embellishment. I couldn't choose just one, so I used my favoriteS. I followed the card recipe for the Dutch Dare which was to use 2 different colors of cardstock, 2 different patterned papers, 2 flowers, 2 brads, and 2 gemstones/buttons. You could use more if you wanted, but the minimum requirement was two for each category listed. For the Cupcake Craft challenge, they wanted players to use buttons and stitching. Scallops were required for the Creative Card Crew. Last but not least, I used the sketch from Create 4 Fun. For the Anya Ink Challenge, the qualifier was to use stitching. The Anyone for Anya Challenge is to use autumn colors. Woo, seven challenges, what a task! Check out my card and candle combination!

For the patterned paper, I used one yellow paper with flowers and another striped yellow and white paper. For my cardstock, I used salmon, green, white, and black colors to accent some of the colors from the yellow flower paper. For my stitches, I used Daisyd's tape. Assorted prima flowers throughout the project. Two white brads from Making Memories. Assorted buttons. The scallop punch is by Martha Stewart. Midnight Madness Challenge #23

Hello everyone, I'm back in action, hope you didn't miss me too much! After a week long episode of neck spasms and killer headaches, I finally felt good enough to get back in touch with my sweet Tilda and challenge blogs. This GREEN Tilda is from the Halloween collection. I used the sketch from the Midnight Madness Challenge. I recently had the pleasure of seeing Wicked in San Francisco and it was wonderful! This card is for my dear friend Bernadette who took me to see it. I have made Tilda into the main character, Elphaba. Also sticking with the Halloween theme, this card will also qualify for the Papertake Weekly Challenge which is to go over to the "dark side". Let me know what you think!!

Midnight Madness Challenge #21

Two cards in one day, how fun! This card is for the Midnight Madness Challenge #21 which is going to be over in less than 30 minutes. I wanted to participate in this challenge, but put it off until now, thinking I had another day to finish. To my surprise, it's due tonight! This also qualifies for the Roses on Paper Challenge #22 which requires the colors orange, brown, and green. The Pink Elephant Challenge #34 requires a tag which I used inside on the left, dots, which were my dew drops in the front, and punch, where I have used throughout the entire card. For the Sunflowers & Dragonflies Challenge #11, the requirement was sparkle and shine. As you can see, I've used plenty of Stickles, which I LOVE. Woo, I have spent SO much time on this card and I am really happy with the results.

Friday Sketchers #69, Papertake Weekly, and Simon Says Challenges

I'm up late considering I have to make it to the 9 o'clock ferry to start my trip home tomorrow. I wanted to make one last card before I get back to California. This card uses the Friday Sketchers #69 sketch. For the Papertake Weekly, the requirement is called "Faking it". I used fake stitching tape since I don't even know how to use a sewing machine to make real stitches. Good thing they have such genius products for the uncrafty crafters! The Simon Says challenge wanted followers to use a recipe, which consists of 3 embellishments, 2 papers, and 1 image. I used an Anya stamp from The Greeting Farm. Enjoy!

Sugar Bowl Challenge #19

Accordian Folder and Embossing

So during my stay here in Victoria, I've had the sweet pleasure of having my crafty aunt Cabio show me how to make the accordian folder for the Magnolia-licious Highlites Challenge. Also, the Just Magnolia Challenge for the week includes embossing. I embossed the images of Tilda with clear Versa Mark ink and sprinkled black embossing powder over it. This project was so much fun to put together, I loved every part of it! It's so cool figuring out how everything works!

For this card, I decided to use the Fairly Lala for the Lala Land Challenge which wanted to see some distressing. I've been waiting to use her, and I finally had a chance! I followed the sketch from the Midnight Madness challenge and made the card vintage to qualify for the Winter Wonderland challenge. The Copic Creations also has a challenge requiring colored pencils and copics. This was my first time working with distressing tools and it was quite time consuming, but fun!

The challenge this week on Sunflowers & Dragonflies was to make a shaped card. In the beginning, I set out to make a bear card, but after cutting out the shapes, my bear turned into a walrus. Random, I know! It actually turned out to be pretty cute, check it out!

Missing In Action

I've been traveling a lot lately so I haven't had any time to make cards. From Disneyland in Anaheim to San Francisco museums and now Victoria Canada, I am truly a west coast girl! I'm here at my wonderful aunt Cabio's house where she has an awesome craft room. I have made my mingle card, but haven't had time to take photos.

In the craft world, I've had a lot of new and exciting news this month. I won my very first blog candy at the Sunflowers and Dragonflies site owned by Beth! I received a set of Nestabilities that I am going to use when I get home. I am in the process of making her a thank you card. In addition, I've been commenting for a chance to win a free stamp from The Greeting Farm. I absolutely adore these stamps!! I just found out I won one on Friday! How awesome is that?? What a great month for winning. I am so happy!!

There are times where I feel like I haven't made a card in awhile, but then I check back here on my blog, and I've been making about one card a day!

Basic Grey Challenge Week 1

This has been a weekend of birthdays! Today I am going to a BBQ to celebrate my friend's hubby's birthday! This is my first time making a 6x6 card for a boy using the Basic Grey Challenge sketch. Another Birthday Ocassion!

To celebrate my friend Annie's 25th birthday, I have made a card using the Papertake Weekly Challenge sketch! I also used colors to qualify for the Roses on Paper Challenge which were orange, brown and warm red. In addition, since it is for my friend's birthday today, this card will qualify for the Just Magnolia Challenge where the theme is friendship!
I am also going to enter the matching Tilda bookmark to the September feature in the Magnolia group in yahoo and the Simon Says Stamps Challenge which asks you to make anything but a card. Without further ado, here goes the pictures!

Also, to qualify for the Sunflower & Dragonflies challenge, I made a complimentary bookmark to match the card. Double Challenge

This post is for the Roses on Paper and Friday Sketchers challenges. Roses on Paper wanted hearts in the creation. I was going to emboss the lighter purple paper to make a nice background, but I have a bad habit of gluing things before I am ready. Therefore, this card is really plain. Since Roses on Paper did not have a sketch to follow, I decided to use the one from Friday Sketchers. I don't know about you, but I like the idea of having a sketch to follow. I wish that I could do more with this card, but I have to start packing for my camping trip!

Sugar Bowl Challenge #16

Been having a lot of spare time on my hands since I've been out of college, so what better thing to do than to join challenges?? This one is for the Sugar Bowl Challenge #16.

This was my first time trying to add some shadow/shading underneath to ground my image (as wonderfully suggested by Diana from Magnolia-licious). Though I tried, I do not think it turned out too well. Does anyone have any tips and suggestions? I color with Copics, so perhaps someone can help me with improving in this department. Also, I am wondering what others use for gluing their ribbons. Here there are four layers of ribbon: brown, cream, green, and a creamy/clear layer on top. It was difficult to get the glue from showing. Let me know if you have any suggestions! Thanks so much!

Christmas in August?

I've come up with a great idea for the Magnolia-licious August sketch. I think I have done something that can be considered for "thinking ouside the box". I also found that this can qualify for the Magnolia Down Under Challenge #19, so I have entered for that one also. What a fun sketch for my second challenge! I hope you all like it!!

As you can see, I've rotated the image and put chilly Tilda in a snow globe! The back of the snow globe was vellum paper I embossed with a Cuttlebug template. The outside of the globe was an old plastic paper file keeper I found in my stationary. I have yet to find a stencil for circles, so my circles are a bit imperfect. Please let me know what you think!

Adding A Bit of Color

I've been wanting to put my Tilda resting/sitting in a circle, so I had some time to think of a creation. This card was not made for any reason except for the pure joy of my new found hobby. I haven't had much experience putting together cards with many different colors and came up with this fun card. Hope you all like it!

Sugar Bowl Challenge #15 - My Very First Challenge!

I've decided to join the Sugar Bowl Challenge for the very first time. I hope I have followed the rules correctly and done all the right things in order to qualify! I couldn't get the right lighting for my camera, so once again, it is a scanned image. Hope it all works out!

A Thank You Card

My aunt asked me to do a thank you card to give to one of her customers but I just had to wait for my first set of Copic markers to come in the mail. Needless to say, THEY HAVE ARRIVED!
